Virtual Volunteer Projects

Who We Are

The Hauppauge Public Library loves our volunteers!

If you are attending a volunteer opportunity to fulfill a specific requirement for school or another organization, please check with your teacher or advisor to make sure they will accept the community service hours.

What We Do

The opportunities we provide benefit the library and/or national organizations who have a mission to help others. And at the same time, we hope that these opportunities provide the volunteer with a positive experience that will encourage them to want to do more!

-Click on the project you'd like to do and RESPOND to the opportunity. (Make a volunteer profile if you haven’t already.)

-You can view the project details on the instruction sheet either by viewing the JPEG or downloading the PDF that is linked in the description.

-Follow the instructions. (Some projects have more than one flyer of info, so make sure to clink on all the linked PDFs.)

-Complete the project.

-Email your proof of completion according to the instructions on the flyer.

-Wait until your email is reviewed by the Library staff.  (Depending on the circumstances, it may take up to a week to get a response.)

-Your volunteer account will be credited with the amount of community service owed based on what you submitted.

*Each project has a maximum number of times you can do it. (See the instruction flyers for that info.) But we reset the clock on those maximums every season.  So, for instance, someone can do Kindness Rocks in the winter, again in the spring, in the summer, etc. until it is no longer available to do.  Some projects repeat each season, some are new and for a limited time only.
